JR Tokai 373 series is used for Limited express Fujikawa.
“Fujikawa” is operated between Shizuoka (=静岡) and Kofu (=甲府) via Minobu line (=身延線). If you go to Mt. Fuji (=富士山) from west side, this train takes you to the gateway stations, Fuji or Fujinomiya. And also this is a short cut route from Shizuoka to Kofu. If you want to go to Matsumoto, Kobuchizawa or Lake Suwa from Shizuoka, ride on this train and transfer to Limited Express Super Azusa or Limited Express Azusa. This train is fully covered by Japan Rail Pass.
If you are looking for any informations about approaching Mt. Fuji, please try one of my post, “How to use Japan Rail Pass to go to Mt. Fuji“. You can get some information how you use Japan Rail Pass to get there.
Route, schedule and trip time
Fujikawa is operated 7 round trips between Shizuoka and Kofu. It takes 2 hour 20 – 30 minutes from Shizuoka to Kofu. All trains are connected with Hikari from Shin-Osaka on Tokaido Shinkansen at Shizuoka and Azusa or Kaiji at Kofu in right connection time for your convenience.

Accommodation
Fujikawa is operated by JR Tokai 373 series. This train is designed for general purpose. So the quality is a bit lower than the standard of limited express train cars. There is no Green car and it does not have any door between passenger’s cabin and exit deck. So I don’t recommend you to reserve a seat near the exit.

Can u please tell me how if i wanna go to shirakawago from fujikawa using JR pass ?
Thanx 🙂
Hi Meci,
You can take local train to Shizuoka and transfer to Shinkansen to Nagoya there. After arrival in Nagoya, take Wide View Hida to get Takayama. And then Nohi bus takes you there.

May i know whats the time of the last train from shizuoka going to kofu?
Hi Christine,
There are several routes and connections. Usually around 21:30 departure at Shizuoka is the last connection.
You have to take Shinkansese to get Shin-Yokohama, take local train to Hachioji and then take the train to Kofu.
Please find more details at Hyperdia.

Hi Takeshi san,
I was wondering if you know any ways to get from gotemba station to otsuki station.
My family and I wants to go to the gotemba premium shopping outlet, but we also want to go to fujikyu on the same day.
We wish to utilise the JR pass to its maximum ( it’s fine if it is the longer route), is there any train that goes from gotemba to otsuki station?
Thank you,
Maureen
Hi Maureen,
If you use JR Pass, it will be a big detour.
Gotemba (local train) Kouzu (local train) Odawara (Shinkansen) Shinagawa (local train) Shinjku (Limtied Express Azusa) Otsuki
It doesn’t look like the shortest route. But it’s the fastest route. It takes about 3.5 hours.
Even if you can accept to pay about 2500 yen additional, it takes about 2.5 hours by Fuji Kyuko bus and Fuji Kyuko train from Gotemba to Otsuki via Lake Kawaguchi.
Cheers,
Takeshi / JP Rail
