But Japan Railway still did not announce that Japan Rail Pass can be used for Hayabusa or not. So please wait for that.
On Feb 1, 2011, I confirmed that Japan Rail Pass can be used for Hayabusa. But if you take Gran Class, you need to pay the extra. Please refer this post to see the details.

Hi, I would like to travel to Tokyo from Hokkaido (Shin-Hakodate). Will the Hokkaido JR Pass able to cover me up to Tokyo? Do I need to purchase other pass/ticket to go to tokyo?
Regards,
April
Hi April,
Hokkaido rail pass does not cover Shinkansen at all. You should use JR pass or JR East South Hokkaido Rail Pass.

I will travel from Sin-Aomori to Tokyo by Hayabusa 6 leaving 18.14 hrs and supposed to be reached Tokyo station around 21.24 hrs at platform No. 22, I will immediately leaving to Okayama by Sunrise Seto which depart 22.00 hrs at platform No. 9, do you think that I am able to catch up the Sunrise Seto within 20 minutes walk between the platform 22 and platform No.9 ?
Hi Succinno,
You have 36 minutes. No problem at all. Even 15 minutes is enough to transfer. It is easier than what you think. : )
