This post is continued from the previous post, Trip to Aizu, Nikko and Hakone in 2014 winter – Part 6, sightseeing in Aizu Wakamatsu.

After 40 minutes train ride, I arrived in Yunokami Onsen station.

There were so much snow and it was snow falling.

In daytime, there were some station staffs.

In this station, atmosphere is totally different from other common stations. It is like Shirakawago housing.

This station has a nice foot bath beside the station building.

We can see the trains in/next to the foot bath.

Two trains pass each other at this station many times. As you see, local and Ozatoro-Tenbo train just passed each other there.

There are some ryokans and minshuku (Japanese style B&B) around the stations. But most of ryokans are located 10 minutes away from the station. I walked to my place but I should not have done that. It was too much snow beside the road. And the road is very narrow and traffic was quite heavy. Taxi office is located in front of the station. Most of ryokans can pick you up at the station if you ask over the phone.

I stayed in Shimizuya ryokan.

It was not fancy. It was very old and standard ryokan.

I could see Aizu Railway’s track from my room.

Actually this view is the reason why I booked this ryokan.

This is not a high-end Ryokan. It is small and the bathroom is shared. But this ryokan has an old fashioned ryokan atomosphere. I really enjoyed staying there. If you are interested in this accommodation, please check the link below to find this ryokan.

I will write about Ouchi-juku in next post, Trip to Aizu, Nikko and Hakone in 2014 winter – Part 8, winter festival in Ouchi-juku.
