Hi JRrail,
Thanks for the info on your website, It’s very helpful.
But I need your confirmation again on this.
I am planning to see cherry blossom in Kawazu at end of February.
From Tokyo to Kawazu, I don’t have to pay extra fare when we take Odoriko or Super View Odoriko if I bought JR Kanto Area Pass right?
Thanks.
Hi Mario,
That’s right. There is no extra charge.
In February, you will be able to see plum. It will be too early to see cherry blossom.
Cheers,
Takeshi / JP Rail
Do you consider the travel to Izukyu Shimoda scenic enough to justify the visit? I’m short of time but I really wanted to ride the Super View Odoriko. Are any other lines using the 251 series?
Thanks in avance, and sorry for the doble post.
Hi Gonzalo,
Yes. It is very scenic and I can recommend it to you with 100% confidence. If you have a time, you can see the movie at Youtube.

But it is about 60 minutes movie. If you see all, you may not need to go there. 🙂

Hi,
Would you kindly tell me if I can use JR Kanto Pass on Ltd Express Odoriko for travelling from Tokyo Station to Kawazu Station? As I read from website, I have to pay extra fare = 1,330 yen + 500 yen (reserved). Is the correct?
Thank you.
Joe
Hi Joe,
Kanto Area Pass cover all part of Izukyu line. If you use Japan Rail Pass, as you mentioned, you need to add some fare on the pass. But Kanto Area Pass cover Izukyu line. NO extra charge on the pass!

Dear JR,
Need your kind advice, I will be arriving into Haneda Airport on 21 Oct morning and is planning to go to ITO Station, Can I use my JR Pass to take the Odoriko / Super View Odoriko train and how much fare difference must I pay if my pass cannot be used for this route ? What would be the last train service from Tokyo to Ito ?
If we do not want to pay the fare difference, is there another alternative route to take so that we can still use our JR Pass to arrives ITO station ?
Appreciate if you can help on our enquiry….
Many thanks,
cynthia ong
Hi Cynthia,
If you take Odoriko to Ito, it is covered by JR Pass fully. Please read “Restriction for Japan Rail Pass users” in the post above.
The last train is usually 13:00 departure from Tokyo. But there are some additional trains on weekend, Check it at Hyperdia.
http://www.hyperdia.com/en/
If you cannot catch Odoriko, take Shinkasen from Tokyo to Atami, and then transfer to local train to Ito. Ito is only 5 stations away from Atami. You still can catch the last local train from Atami to Ito from 22:10 departure Shinkasen “Kodama” from Tokyo.
Cheers,
Takeshi / JP Rail
I want to go from Tokyo Airport to Izukyu Shimoda. I know it takes 3 hours but not sure which train to take and which station is better.
Izukyu Shimoda which is best route by train to Kii Katsuraa.
thank you very much
Hi Andy,
Which airport are you going to arrive, Haneda or Narita?
If you arrive Narita, take Narita Express to Tokyo and then transfer to Odoriko/Super view odoriko. If you arrive Haneda, take Keihin Kyuko to Shinagawa and then transfer to Odoriko/Super view odoriko.
However, if you arrive late afternoon or evening, you cannot make it on arrival day. You may need to stay in Tokyo. For example, if you arrive Narita, you will spend at least one hour to get out of airport. And you will spend another one hour to get Tokyo station from Narita. You will lose extra minutes to transfer the train. So check the schedule at Hyperdia.

And I want to make sure that you want to go to Izukyu-Shimoda or Kii-Katsuura. Kii-Katsuura is completely different place. If you go to Kii-Katsuura, you need to go to Osaka or Nagoya and transfer the train to Kii-Katsuura. See the following link:

Hi, if i wanna purchase the seishun 18 ticket can i do it online or do i have to go to the ticket stations? and if i wanna go to niigata from tokyo, what is the cheapest railpass to get there?
Hi Ridhwann,
Seisyun 18 is sold at station only. No online is available.
If you use Seisyu 18, it is the cheapest to get there. Otherwise only single ticket is your choice.

Hi,
We plan to go to Kawazu Cherry Blossom.
We will be going from Tokyo. We have JR pass. Please advice how and which train to take.
If we plan to overnight, which is the best area to stay?
Thanks for help.
Cheers,
Fern
Hi fenn,
Take this train, Super View Odoriko and Odoriko to Kawazu. It takes about 2 hours and 30 minutes from Tokyo. But as you have seen on this page. Japan Rail Pass do not cover for the section between Ito and Kawazu. You need to pay extra anyway.
You can check the timetable at Hyperdia.

I think Atami is the best place to stay. But you can decide not by location but by accommodation. There are so many Ryokans and Hotels. And also Shimoda is nice place too.

Can you tell if the super view odoriko sill goes from Shinkuju to Izukyu Shimoda at 9:25 am.

Dear JR:
I am currently living on Yokosuka Naval Base. I plan on making frequent weekend trips (leave Friday at 1500 and return on Sunday mid-day) to IzuKyu-Shimoda. I would like to take the Odoriko if possible. Can you send me information on the most direct route? In addition, would it be more economical to buy some sort of pass?
I would appreciate any help you can give me.
Sincerely,
Kathleen Bogen
Hello Kathleen,
I don’t know when you are going to Izukyu-Shimoda. But Odoriko is operated on weekend and holidays now. So I think you can take this train. Take the local line on Yokosuka line to Ofuna, then change to Odoriko there. All of Odoriko are not operated yet. I update daily about train operation status. Please refer this page before you go and get most updated informations.
I don’t have any informations to send you since my site is not official. But you can get the time table on JR East English website timetable. And JR East had Weekend Pass in winter time. That one was the best for you. But it is over to sell. So I don’t have any recommendation to you now. You will find some informations about other passes here.
