Narita airport is well known as the international airport in Tokyo. But since the government allows Haneda to increase the slot of the international flights, the number of the international flights departs from and arrive at Haneda airport has been increasing in these days.
In this post, I would like to show you the access between Haneda airport and downtown Tokyo. I will explain you about the deals too.
Overview

Haneda is located in the metro Tokyo 23 municipalities. Haneda is much closer to downtown Tokyo than Narita.
You may get downtown Tokyo by Tokyo Monorail, Keikyu railway and Airport Limousine bus. In this post, I will explain about these access between airport and downtown Tokyo and some deals for these airport access. But before I explain this I would like to tell about the procedure of arrival.
How to find the way to get a bus or a train at Haneda airport international terminal
Actually it is quite simple. When you exit from the immigration and the custom area, you will see the hall, like the picture below.

You will find Airport Limousine bus ticket counter on your left hand side right after you exit from the immigration and the custom area.

Just keep going straight from the exit and you will find Tokyo Monorail station and Keikyu station. Those are just a few steps away from.

It takes less than one minute to get the station from the exit of the immigration and the custom. Many station staffs are there to help you how to buy a ticket and find a direction. And also there are lots of signages in a few languages. It is very travelers friendly.
JR East Travel Service Center (JR Pass and other JR passes exchange place)

JR East has Travel Service Center at Tokyo Monorail Haneda Airport International Terminal station. You can exchange/purchase JR pass, JR East Pass, Tokyo Wide Pass and some more JR deals here. You can start using the pass right after you arrive at Haneda in Japan if you like. Please see the link below to find the detailed information:
JR East official site – Haneda Airport service center
If you arrive at Haneda in very early morning or very late night, you may not be able to exchange/purchase Pass. Shinagawa station or Tokyo station is the substitute choice.
JR Pass and all JR deals cover Tokyo Monorail only. You cannot take Keikyu Railway, Airport Limousine bus and any other bus services.
Tokyo Monorail

Tokyo Monorail runs between Haneda airport and Hamamatsucho. It takes 18 minutes by the fastest train, “Haneda Express” which stops at a few major stations only. It takes 23 minutes by other monorail trains.
Tokyo Monorail runs every 3 to 5 minutes in daytime. And it runs in 5 to 10 minutes in very early morning and very late night. Monorail starts to run around 05:00 am and the last one run around midnight.

Please see the official site in the link below to find more information:
Hamamatsucho is three stations away from Tokyo station by JR Yamanote line. If you want to take the Shinkansen to Nagoya, Kyoto or Osaka after arrival at Haneda, you have to take Yamanote line to get Tokyo station.
You may find the information about Hamamatsucho station in the post below:
If you use JR Pass or other JR rail passes, Tokyo Monorail is covered and you may take this. However if you Keikyu Railway, you can get Shinagawa directly from Haneda and catch the Shinkansen to Nagoya, Kyoto and Osaka. Even though Keikyu is not covered by JR Pass or other JR deals, please consider to pay extra and get Keikyu railway. It is much easier to take the Shinkansen to Nagoya, Kyoto or Osaka. I will explain about Keihin Kyuko Railway later.
If you take the Shinkansen to get Kanazawa, Toyama, Sendai, Hakodate, you can get Tokyo station by Tokyo Monorail and Yamanote line. You cannot catch the Shinkansen to these places at Shinagawa.
If you stay at the major hotel in downtown Tokyo, you may take Airport Limousine bus. You can get the hotel directly. I will explain about Airport Limousine later as well.
Recommended deal – Monorail and Yamanote Line Discount Ticket
It includes Monorail one way fare to Hamamatsucho and the fare to all stations on Yamanote line. You can get Shinbashi, Tokyo, Akihabara, Ueno, Ikebukuro, Shinjuku, Shibuya and many other stations on Yamanote line at 500 yen.

Keikyu Railway

Keikyu is one of the major private railway companies in Tokyo. This railway connects Haneda airport and Shinagawa. It takes 16 to 18 minutes by the fastest train, Airport Limited Express. But Airport Limited Express is operated in daytime only. Most of trains are Airport Express. This train stops all stations between Haneda terminal and Keikyu-Kamata. And also it stops at a few stations between Keikyu-Kamata and Shinagawa. It takes about 25 minutes by Airport Express.
The train runs every 5 minutes during daytime and 10 minutes during early morning and late night.
Please check the detailed information in the official site:
Keihin Kyuko Haneda Access website
Shinagawa is one of the biggest terminal stations in downtown Tokyo. And as I mentioned above, the Tokaido Shinkansen to Nagoya, Kyoto and Shin-Osaka stops at Shinagawa. You can change the trains easily in Shinagawa. Please find the information about Shinagawa station in the post below:
Keikyu Railway also runs on Toei Subway Asakusa line. Please see the route map at the beginning in this post. Keikyu Railway, Toei Subway and Keisei Railway are connected and these three company’s trains go through each other. That means you can get Asakusa and other stations on Toei Subway directly from Haneda. Most of Airport Limited Express and Airport Express go through this subway line.
As I told you above, if you stay at the major hotel in other areas in Tokyo, you may take Airport Limousine bus.
Recommended deal – Keikyu Haneda/Subway Common Pass
This deal offers Keikyu Railway from Haneda to downtown Tokyo and Tokyo subway one day unlimited ride. Keikyu Railway offers several deals. Please see the link below to find more information about these deals.

Hi Sir,
We are a family of 6 (3 adults and 3 children) and will be travelling to Japan for 5 days. I’ll be reaching Haneda Airport in Sept at 4 pm.
In your opinion, what is the best option – go to Hakone and stay 2 days to visit Mt Fuji first or go to Disneyland first?
Appreciate any advise given.
Thanks very much ya.
Hi Mummy Ong,
In my opinion, Disney is first. Because you will arrive Haneda at 4pm. You will spend at least one hour to clear Immigration, custom and baggage pick up. I estimate your time of departure is 17:30. There is a direct bus to Hakone from Haneda. But only two trips and your arrival time is too late to catch it.
http://hnd-bus.com/route/hakoneyumoto.html
I think 17:30 is too late to go to Hakone from Haneda. You can’t get Hakone until 20:00.

Takeshi / JP Rail
We arrive into Haneda at 10 pm. What are your recommendations as far as where to stay? And how do we get there? We will be in japan for 10 days but I only purchased a 7 day rail pass. We plan to stay in Tokyo for the evening upon arrival and make our way down to Kyoto in the morning. We need some guidance. Should we book only one hotel for the entire stay and come back to Tokyo every evening or book hotels as we go day by day?
Hi Keiko,
For the first night, Shinagawa is the best. It can be accessed by Keihin Kyuko without any transfer.
https://jprail.com/trains/sort-by-type/subway/how-to-take-tokyo-monorail-or-keihin-kyuko-for-late-arrival-and-early-departure-at-haneda.html
It’s not realistic to go to Kyoto as day trip. It takes 2.5 hours one way. And I recommend you to stay there at least one night. There are other popular spots around Kyoto, like Osaka, Nara, Mt. Koya, Kobe. And also Takayama and Shirakawago are very popular too.
Please see these following links. Those may help you to build your itinerary.

You can start to use JR Pass on day 2 and come back to Tokyo by day 8. That’s the smartest way to use JR Pass 7 days.

Our flight will arrive in Haneda airport at 2pm. I searched for limousine bus information in the internet and found that last trip to Ginza area is at 3pm. In case our flight is delayed or there is long line at immigration and baggage claim, we might miss the 3pm limousine bus. Please share if you have information about correct schedule of limousine shuttle from Haneda airport to hotels in Ginza.
In case we miss the bus, we plan to take the train. What is the fastest line with zero transfer or only 1 transfer from Haneda airport to Ginza station or Shimbashi station?
If we take Keikyu line, how and where do we transfer to Toei Asakusa line?
Thank you very much for your help.
Hi Bella,
There are so many Limousine bus routes. So I’m not sure 15:00 is the last or not. If it’s the last bus, as you guess, you may take a train.
The easiest way is taking Keihin kyuko to Sengakuji and transfer to Toei Asakusa line. Some of Keihin Kyuko train go through Toei Asakusa line. You may not transfer at Sengakuji.
Cheers,

Can you tell me the easiest way to get from Haneda airport to the Toyoko inn in Nihonbashi please? I guess taxi is quite expensive?

Hi Les,
Take Monorail to Hamamatsucho station, walk to Daimon station of Toei subway Asakusa line and take subway train to Nihombashi. You will find more detail schedule at Hyperdia.

Hi,
I’d like to find out if there is any airport limousine bus to Tokyo Station from Haneda Airport between 11pm-12am? I could not find any details from their website’s timetable.
Appreciate if you could assist and let me know.
Thanks
Best Regards,
Kenneth
Hi Kenneth,
I don’t think they have. Monorail and Yamanote line is your choice to get there.
