Narita airport is well known as the international airport in Tokyo. But since the government allows Haneda to increase the slot of the international flights, the number of the international flights departs from and arrive at Haneda airport has been increasing in these days.

In this post, I would like to show you the access between Haneda airport and downtown Tokyo. I will explain you about the deals too.

Overview

Haneda is located in the metro Tokyo 23 municipalities. Haneda is much closer to downtown Tokyo than Narita.

You may get downtown Tokyo by Tokyo Monorail, Keikyu railway and Airport Limousine bus. In this post, I will explain about these access between airport and downtown Tokyo and some deals for these airport access. But before I explain this I would like to tell about the procedure of arrival.

How to find the way to get a bus or a train at Haneda airport international terminal

Actually it is quite simple. When you exit from the immigration and the custom area, you will see the hall, like the picture below.

You will find Airport Limousine bus ticket counter on your left hand side right after you exit from the immigration and the custom area.

Airport Limousine bus ticket counter

Just keep going straight from the exit and you will find Tokyo Monorail station and Keikyu station. Those are just a few steps away from.

Tokyo Monorail station will be on your left hand side. (C) JP Rail
Keikyu station will be on your right hand side. (C) JP Rail

It takes less than one minute to get the station from the exit of the immigration and the custom. Many station staffs are there to help you how to buy a ticket and find a direction. And also there are lots of signages in a few languages. It is very travelers friendly.

JR East Travel Service Center (JR Pass and other JR passes exchange place)

JR East Travel Service Center is next to Tokyo Monorail ticket gate. This photo was take in a few years ago. Now this travel center is bigger.

JR East has Travel Service Center at Tokyo Monorail Haneda Airport International Terminal station. You can exchange/purchase JR pass, JR East Pass, Tokyo Wide Pass and some more JR deals here. You can start using the pass right after you arrive at Haneda in Japan if you like. Please see the link below to find the detailed information:

JR East official site – Haneda Airport service center

If you arrive at Haneda in very early morning or very late night, you may not be able to exchange/purchase Pass. Shinagawa station or Tokyo station is the substitute choice.

JR Pass and all JR deals cover Tokyo Monorail only. You cannot take Keikyu Railway, Airport Limousine bus and any other bus services.

Hi there! Thanks for posting this article, loads of useful information.

I am scheduled to arrive at Haneda 22:30 in the evening, and I will be staying at a hotel near Higashiginza station. Assuming I made it through custom and immigration by 23:30, what are the options? Will Keikyu Asakusa line take me directly to Ginza? And what time is the latest train departing from Haneda bound for that direction?

    Thanks beforehand for your suggestions!

    • JPRail says:

      Hello Owen,
If you arrive at Haneda on weekdays, the last train of Keihin Kyuko departs from Haneda int’l station at 23:39. You need to transfer the train to Shinagawa/Sengakuji at Keikyu Kamata station. This train goes through Toei Asakusa line and take you to Higashi-Ginza station directly.
If you arrive at Haneda on weekend, the last train depart from Haneda at 23:17. Transfer is same at Kamata, then this train take you to Higashi-Ginza direcly too.
If you miss these above trains, take midnight bus or taxi.
All you can do is trying to get the seat on flight as front as possible. Right after getting off the flight, just run to immigration. As long as your flight arrive on time, 23:39 train is okay. But 23:17 train is very tight.
I hope you will get it and start your trip with your smile!

Hi, I’m arriving at 10.30 at Haneda International. I’m staying in Asakusa. I saw above that you’ve suggested the 11.41 train from Haneda. However, if due to unfortunate circumstances I’m unable to get on the 11.41 train, what other options do I have? Bus? Monorail? What would be the cheapest mode of transportation to get to Asakusa Station?

    • JPRail says:

      Hello Ferr,
If you miss Keihin Kyuko, you still have Monorail that depart around 00:00. Monorail can take you to Hamamatsucho and you can catch the train on Yamanote line. But Yamanote line does not take you to Asakusa. You can go Ueno. This is the nearest station to Asakusa. Then you need to take the taxi. I don’t know the exact fare. But it will be more than 1,000yen. If you miss Monorail, you have to take the taxi from Haneda. It makes you spend more than 5,000 yen, I guess.

  3. Stephanie says:

    Hi,

I’m staying in Asakusa and need to make a 6.25am flight at Haneda. Would I be able to use my JRail pass for the entire journey? Which train line(s) would you recommend? Also, since the flight is so early in the morning, would I be able to get to the airport around midnight and just wait in the terminal until it’s time to check-in?

    Thank you!

    • JPRail says:

      Hello Stephanie,
I’m sorry you cannot make it in the morning. It’s too early to get to the airport by train. And also it’s not good idea to get Haneda from Asakusa by JR pass.
Take Tokyo Metro Ginza line (subway) to Sengakuji, then transfer to Keihin Kyuko line to Haneda airport. This is the easiest and fastest to get there.
If you leave around 23:00 at Asakusa, you can get the airport around 0:00.

take a train-Keikyu line-direct to Takaracho station which is along Asakusa line.Have we got to change train at Shinagawa station?

    Thank you

    • JPRail says:

      Hello Chiam,
I think yo can make it. The last train will depart at 23:41. You need to transfer the train at Kamata and Sengakuji. You will arrive at Takaracho at 00:13. If you miss this train, you cannot make it.

    hi JPRail,

I would like to ask you for advice.

I am taking a flight which is expected to arrive at HND at 2305hours, my hotel is near is Aomonoko-cho station, which is covered by keikyu line (if i can catch the train in time)

I saw that there is a bus service run by keikyu bus from HND to Shinagawa station at 0040 hours. If I take this bus, will you know how much is the taxi from Shinagawa station to Aomonoko station?

    Thanks in advance

    • JPRail says:

      Hello Lost in Haneda,
I do not have any rate table for the taxi from Shinagawa to Aomonoyokocho. But it is a couple km away from Shinagawa to Aomonoyokocho. So I guess it will be around 1000 yen.
If you take the taxi from Haneda to Aomonoyokocho, it will be 4000yen, I guess. It is expensive. But you can save the time after arrival in midnight.

  8. Sui Yin Yoon says:

I am too arriving on the same flight as LimKH 2305hr on April 2nd, but my hotel is close to Shinjuku Station. I see on the airport limousine website, the last bus from Haneda Int’l Airport to Shinjuku Station West Exit departs Haneda International airport at 0040hr. Is this service still running? Thanks for advising.

    • JPRail says:

      Hello Sui Yin,
      Yes. They have a bus at 00:40. : )
I recommend you to check the schedule right before you depart. Sometimes they change the schedule without notice.

  9. Jennifer says:

I am arriving at 23:05pm at Haneda Airport International Terminal on SQ 634. Will it be possible to take the last train departing Haneda for Ueno?

    Thanks for your reply.

    • JPRail says:

      Hello Jennifer,
Last monorail to Hamamatsucho departs at 00:10 now. If you can make this, you can transfer last train on Yamanote line at Hamamatsucho. But it will very tight. I hope your flight arrive earlier.
      Takeshi / JP Rail

I am arriving at 23:05pm at Haneda Airport International Terminal on SQ 634. Will it be possible to take the last train departing Haneda for Shinagawa?

    Thanks for your reply.

    • JPRail says:

      Hello Lim,
I don’t think you will be able to make it. The train to Shinagawa departs at 23:59. I think it will take at least 1 hour to go through Immigration and Custom. If your flight arrive a bit early, you might have a chance.
Keikyu Bus to Shinagawa departed at 00:40. But they stop operating the bus service at this moment. I checked the other bus service, but I couldn’t find it. The only choice that you have taking a taxi. It costs about 4,000 to 5,000 yen. it’ not cheap. But no choice…
