  1. Hi, Mr. Takeshi

From the ” List of rail passes “, you have missed out the Hokuriku Area Pass”.
Hope that you can make a user guide for this pass.
    Thank You.

  2. I am planning a trip to Japan for 4 adults, two on limited budget. We will have a JR rail passes but I would like to plan a trip from Osaka to Amanohashidate in northern Kyoto Prefecture, I know the JR pass doesn’t cover the entire trip and am torn between purchase of an additional pass or figuring out what the extra fees are. Then I am not sure how to pay the additional ticket fees for the part that is not covered by JR pass. Do we have to exit and change trains?
Nervous about such a long trip, We would then need to get BACK to Osaka. We should be in Osaka 3 days.

    1. Hi Susan,

You will take the limited express Konotori from Osaka to Fukuchiyama. How you change trains depends on the train you take from Fukuchiyama Station. If you take the limited express Hashidate, you can change trains at same platform. In this case, you can pay additional fare in the train or when you exit at Amanohashidate station.

If you take the Kyoto Tango Railway train from Fukuchiyama, you have to go through Kyoto Tango Railway ticket gate.

I have done this transfer in last February. I made a video in my Youtube channel, so please find it in this video. I think it is much easier to understand how you do this.

  • Please refrain from asking me to create a itinerary. I'm not your personal travel agent, so I do not accept making itineraries from scratch. This site provides you with a lot of information. Please refer to them and make your own itinerary. I will be happy to advise you on the itinerary.
  • Please refrain from asking how to get to the hotel you are staying at. I think that is the first thing to check when choosing a hotel. Also, I think that any hotel nowadays explains how to access it on the official website. First, try google the hotel name.
  • Please refrain from asking me which hotel to recommend. I can comment on the hotels I actually stayed at, but I can't judge on other hotels.
  • If you ask me the rail pass that fits your itinerary, please explain your travel plan in as much detail as possible. I can't choose the best pass on the rough itinerary.
  • I will not answer your question by email. I manage this website with a policy of sharing all information, including questions received from readers. Some readers read past comments carefully. Please note that I do not personally interact with readers.
