Narita airport is well known as the international airport in Tokyo. But since the government allows Haneda to increase the slot of the international flights, the number of the international flights departs from and arrive at Haneda airport has been increasing in these days.

In this post, I would like to show you the access between Haneda airport and downtown Tokyo. I will explain you about the deals too.

Overview

Haneda is located in the metro Tokyo 23 municipalities. Haneda is much closer to downtown Tokyo than Narita.

You may get downtown Tokyo by Tokyo Monorail, Keikyu railway and Airport Limousine bus. In this post, I will explain about these access between airport and downtown Tokyo and some deals for these airport access. But before I explain this I would like to tell about the procedure of arrival.

How to find the way to get a bus or a train at Haneda airport international terminal

Actually it is quite simple. When you exit from the immigration and the custom area, you will see the hall, like the picture below.

You will find Airport Limousine bus ticket counter on your left hand side right after you exit from the immigration and the custom area.

Airport Limousine bus ticket counter

Just keep going straight from the exit and you will find Tokyo Monorail station and Keikyu station. Those are just a few steps away from.

Tokyo Monorail station will be on your left hand side. (C) JP Rail
Keikyu station will be on your right hand side. (C) JP Rail

It takes less than one minute to get the station from the exit of the immigration and the custom. Many station staffs are there to help you how to buy a ticket and find a direction. And also there are lots of signages in a few languages. It is very travelers friendly.

JR East Travel Service Center (JR Pass and other JR passes exchange place)

JR East Travel Service Center is next to Tokyo Monorail ticket gate. This photo was take in a few years ago. Now this travel center is bigger.

JR East has Travel Service Center at Tokyo Monorail Haneda Airport International Terminal station. You can exchange/purchase JR pass, JR East Pass, Tokyo Wide Pass and some more JR deals here. You can start using the pass right after you arrive at Haneda in Japan if you like. Please see the link below to find the detailed information:

JR East official site – Haneda Airport service center

If you arrive at Haneda in very early morning or very late night, you may not be able to exchange/purchase Pass. Shinagawa station or Tokyo station is the substitute choice.

JR Pass and all JR deals cover Tokyo Monorail only. You cannot take Keikyu Railway, Airport Limousine bus and any other bus services.

However if you Keikyu Railway, you can get Shinagawa directly from Haneda and catch the Shinkansen to Nagoya, Kyoto and Osaka. Even though Keikyu is not covered by JR Pass or other JR deals, please consider to pay extra and get Keikyu railway. It is much easier to take the Shinkansen to Nagoya, Kyoto or Osaka. I will explain about Keihin Kyuko Railway later.

If you take the Shinkansen to get Kanazawa, Toyama, Sendai, Hakodate, you can get Tokyo station by Tokyo Monorail and Yamanote line. You cannot catch the Shinkansen to these places at Shinagawa.

That means you can get Asakusa and other stations on Toei Subway directly from Haneda. Most of Airport Limited Express and Airport Express go through this subway line.

Hi, I will be arriving Tokyo Haneda International Airport on 12th (Tues) June 2012 at close to midnight at 2305. I wish to connect to Yokohama station and transfer to Bashamichi Station. What is the best route?

    • JPRail says:

      Hi Sim,
You can go to Yokohama by Keihin Kyuko and transfer to Minato Mirai line at Yokohama. But the last train depart from Heneda at 23:42. It is very tight. If you miss this train, the only way to get Yokohama is taxi. You need to rush to go through custom and immigration.
      Cheers,

  6. Norzita says:

    Hi admin,

My flight arrive at Haneda airport at 23:00, weekday (i.e Monday), what is the economy way to get to KAMATA, Grand Park Hotel Panex Tokyo?

What time for the last train at night and it cost?

    • JPRail says:

      Hi Norzita,
Please read the post above carefully.
As I mentioned, Kamata can be accessed by Keihin Kyuko. The last train is 00:20. It might be in time. If you cannot miss it, taxi is the only way.
Please read the chapter of Keihin Kyuko in above post to get more details.
      Cheers,

I will need to be at Haneda Airport by 5:20 am. I will be staying at Courtyard Hotel in Ginza in Tokyo. What’s the best way to get to the airport at that time?

    • JPRail says:

      Hi Les,
There is no public transportation from Ginza such an early time. You need to take a cab to Hamamatsucho from Ginza. You can take Monorail at 5am and takes 12 minutes to get Haneda. Taxi fare is around 1000 yen.
      Cheers,
      Takeshi / JP Rail

  8. Lydia says:

My flight arrive at Haneda airport at 23:00, weekday (i.e Monday), what is the economy way to get to Palm & Fountain Terrace Hotel at Akemi Urayasu-shi, Chiba other than taxi (total passenger 5 adults & 3 children)?

    • JPRail says:

      Hi Lydia,
You must take Monorail by 23:45 to Hamamatsucho. After arrive at Hamamatsucho at 23:52, take JR train to Tokyo at 23:59. Transfer the train to Soga via Maihama, Urayasu on Keiyo line at Tokyo station. Train depart at 00:33. This is the last one. And also Keiyo line at Tokyo station is located at deep underground level. It takes at least 10 minutes to transfer.
If you miss 23:45 monorail, taxi is only way. Try to get out Immigration and custom ASAP.
      Cheers,
      Takeshi / JP Rail

  9. Koh says:

Hi, I would like to get to the intercontinental tokyo bay from Haneda International Terminal.

However i would be arriving close to midnight and may miss the Tokyo monorai. Taxis are very expensive. Any other ways to get there please?

    Thanks!

    • JPRail says:

      Hi Koh,
Unfortunately, monorail and taxi are only way to get there. Try to go through custom and immigration as quick as possible. Monorail station is a few steps away from the exit.
      Takeshi / JP Rail

  10. Cathy says:

Hi, I would like to get to the Conrad Hotel in Tokyo (close to Shiodome station) from Haneda International Terminal. What would be the best way to get there please?

It seems that I can take Tokyo Monorail to Hamamatsucho, then maybe taxi to Shiodome? How much would the taxi cost between Hamamatsucho and Shiodome?

Alternatively maybe I should take the Keikyu line towards Shinagawa. Does it mean that I will need to change at Sengakuji to Toei Asakusa line, then to Daimon and change to Toei Oedo line to Shiodome?

    Please can you advise?

Thank you very much in advance!

    • JPRail says:

      Hi Cathy,
Take Monorail to Hamamtsucho and transfer to Yamanote line to Shinbashi. Shinbashi is just one station away from Hamamatsucho. Shiodeme is within walking distance from Shinbashi station.
      Takeshi / JP Rail
