Ferry arrived at Toyo port. This port is 10 minutes away from JR Nyugawa station. Nyugawa is located at west part of Ehime prefecture in Shikoku island.
Breakfast was issue in that morning. I could not find the place to eat breakfast. Breakfast was available in the ferry. But we had to wake up before 6:00 am. It was too early and too tough for my daughter. I googled before we departed but I could not find any places near Nyugawa station. There were some convenience stores and first food. But those were at least 10 minutes walk away from the station. I could not find any solutions but the bus arrived at the station. Continue reading →

JR Sanyo Shikoku Kyushu Rail Pass was released on the same day as Kansai WIDE Area Pass on April 10, 2012. This pass is the combination of existing JR West Sanyo Area Pass, JR Kyushu Rail Pass and unlimited ride in Shikoku. This is the first rail pass that cover most of west part of Japan. Ishizuchi Connects Takamatsu (高松) with Matsuyama (松山) and Uwajima (宇和島). Shiokaze depatrs from Okayama to Matsuyama and Uwajima via Seto Ohashi bridge (瀬戸大橋). Most of these trains are combined to operate between Utazu (宇多津) and Matsuyama/Uwajima. When you go to Matsuyama, use Sanyo Shinkansen to Okayama (岡山) and transfer to Shiokaze at Okayama. Most of Shiokaze are connected with Nozomi, Hikari, Mizuho and Sakura in right connection time at Okayama. Of course these trains can be used by Japan Rail Pass with no restriction. Sunrise Seto is the Overnight train that operated between Tokyo and Takamatsu in Shikoku island. This train is combined with Sunrise Izumo between Tokyo and Okayama. This train depart late night and arrive early morning. If you want to save the time, this train is the perfect choice.
Some of overnight train consist of the bedroom and the berth only. This train has the reserved seat. So Japan Rail Pass holder can take this train without the extra. This reserved seat is called “Nobi Nobi Seat”. It is like a berth and much more comfortable than the coach type seat. You can lie on the seat. And you have some privacy because there is a small partition between the seat and the seat.
