Shirahama is located at the west coast of Kii peninsula, Wakayama prefecture. You can get there by Limited Express Kuroshio from Shin-Osaka and Tennoji directly. There are some marine attractions, such as glass boat and popular theme park, Adventure World. If you travel with your kids, this spot is considerable. Because I had a trip with my 4 years old daughter and she was so happy.
I had a trip to Shirahama in last year but I did not have a chance to write about this. Now I would like to share it with you.
Limited Express Kuroshio from Shin-Osaka to Shirahama
The map below shows you about my trip route.
It was 2.5 hours train trip from Shin-Osaka to Shirahama. We took ordinary seats. It was not very special but it was very comfortable.
During this train trip, we enjoyed Eki-Ben. Eki-Ben is a boxed meal and it is an abbreviation of Eki (=station) Bento (=box meal).
My mother picked “Kakinoha Sushi” This is a pressed Suchi that is wrapped by persimmon leaf.
My wife picked “Kuri Okowa”. This is a steamed sticky rice with chestnuts.
And I picked “Gyubara Chahan”. This a beef belly on fried rice.
Eki-Ben is not reasonable option. Other common bento box or sandwich is cheaper than Eki-Ben. But it you are interested in some local cuisine, Eki-Ben is an easy way to taste local flavor.
The train ran along the coast. This fleet, 283 series has observation room. It’s a perfect spot to see the view of the beautiful seashore line.
2.5 hours train trip came to the end. I felt time went by very quickly.
